I’m convinced aiming our sights and measuring any kind of achievement on this idea of experiencing a “work/life balance” is worth changing. Let me clarify by sharing I believe both work and life are important and it’s a complex topic.

This has been on mind a lot lately and I wanted to share it with you.

First of all, balance is about an even distribution of weight or time and in my experience balance is clearly a moving target. Do you agree?

The aim of having a balance between the complexities and uncertainties of work and life is not a sustainable or realistic aim. This is an outdated way of thinking about time management, quality time with family and success at work. To distribute our time and energy evenly on a daily basis isn’t realistic for most of us.

I believe it’s more about the quality of time, presence of mind and heart and personally centered while at work and in all other areas of life.

I’m convinced it’s more and more about being honest with ourselves about what’s important and designing our lives to align with what matters.

Experiencing a sense of balance is about feeling confident in who you are, living your life from a place of connection and being clear about what your priorities are without guilt, shame, or regret.

When we live each day more consciously, it’s so much easier to give and be of service. This can be SUPER hard to do when there’s laundry to be done, and projects that need our attention whether in the house or in our careers.

So many of us have been trained to make decisions due to guilt, shame, or someone told us we “should”. The result is regret, which erodes the nervous system and the immune system over time.

This is why I’m committed to guiding others into a deeper relationship with their daily habits. Life is full and we are all busy. You have to prioritize simple and basic practices that cultivate more energy in your physical body, clarity in your mind and shift outdated stories. This is the path of feeling centered and truly trusting in yourself to make the best decisions for yourself and your family at home and at work without guilt, shame or regreat.

Want to feel more centered in yourself?

What to dissolve any guilt, shame or regret around the decisions you’re making?

Want to expand your time?

Want to feel more present with your family?

Want to experience greater joy?

There are unconscious and outdated structures and stories that hold us back from living our best life.

Heather was stuck in old patterns and old ways of being and she knew she wanted to change something but didn’t know exactly what. She used to dive into cleanses and dieting and then always go back to status quo. She would rush her kids into and out of the car to get the day going before she landed at the office as an Engineer in a male-dominated field.

As the CEO of her household, she also holds the mental energy, the calendar, and logistics for the family. She no longer launches into her day full throttle. Her days are full of a lot more ease and she continues to dissolve old habits of perfectionism, and beliefs about what’s possible in her life. She’s no longer the victim of her life and continues to learn how to navigate life’s twists and turns.

Watch or listen to this short and fun conversation Heather and I have about how her life has dramatically shifted after a year of focusing on simple habit change and mindset practices. And if you are ready to shift your ways of showing up and want to incorporate more joy in your life, let’s talk. Schedule a 30 minute call with me to discover what few changes in your day mighr change your whole life. I have all kinds of tools to share that will help you keep up with the fast pace of life and lead with confidence.
