Your rate of change is up to you.

You’ve probably heard it before…

If we want our lives to look or feel differently, we have to be willing to make changes. We can’t keep doing things the same way we’ve always done it and expect different results. This is the classic definition of insanity.

It’s true with our mindset, our daily habits, the words we choose to use, the conversations we engage in and how we act out loud.

Transformation and change can sometimes be slow like watching your hair grow and other times it can be fast, like deciding one day to paint the walls in your living room. Ok, these might be silly examples, but I think you get the idea. One is taking a look at the growth that is not visible to the eye and the other has an immediate visual and aesthetic impact.

If we only seek immediate results, we are missing out on so much. If you are drawn to the quick fix, the slow and steady approach may be more medicinal. If you are drawn to the slow and steady, you might need a more drastic change to light the fire.

Ultimately it’s all about getting the kind of results you desire.

Are you the type that sits around waiting for the signs and signals to make a decision? Or are you more impulsive? Either way, are you accountable for your results? For the outcome?

So often we blame others for not doing a, b, or c, when really if we were to take complete ownership regardless of our life circumstances, we’d all be better off.

This is accountability.

In the book, 12 Week Year, Brian Moran describes accountability as owning your life circumstances and not using them as excuses for not following your dreams. We become more effective at getting the results we desire in life by asking ourselves “what more can I do?” versus pointing fingers.

Where are you at with your dreams? Do you need fast, fun and effective or do you need slow, steady and sustainable? Share a comment and let me know. I’d love to hear from you.
