em·bod·y

/əmˈbädē/

to be an expression of or give a tangible or visible form to

(an idea, quality, or feeling).

I’m an amateur word nerd. I’m interested in where words originate and the meanings behind them. I believe there is great power in our words. One of my favorite words right now is Embody. I think of it as meaning “to be in your body.” To breathe, act, behave, and live in alignment with your heart’s desire, with what matters most to you and that is reflected in your body.

What qualities do you want to EMBODY in 2019?

How are you going to cultivate this quality?

Who do you need to become in order to do that?

What do you need to START doing?

Most of us have a decent idea of how, what and why we want to do something, but we lose steam. In this case, we have to change the system or find better support.

When we put ourselves in the seat of being coachable or interested in learning and seeing from a different perspective we grow and evolve.

Let’s take nature as an example. Nature is always teaching us if we are listening and paying attention, but so many of us need to learn what to pay attention to in the first place. My teacher recently said “if we think we know more than nature, we are fooling ourselves”. Check this out…

Did you know when geese fly in a v-formation, scientists estimate the whole flock can fly about 70% farther with the same amount of energy than if each goose flew alone?

That’s 70% further in a group. Why? Because when one goose gets tired they go to the back of the V and are in the current of the group. The group carries them. Groups help us get to our results faster and with more efficiency.

This is where I come in. I have a group and a system for you.

These are two things we need to reach our goals.

It’s difficult to stay connected to our goals if we don’t have support or if we are using an outdated system. So many of us give up too early. We need peers and a guide to support us on our path. It doesn’t have to be a full-time job. It’s a practice, something we cultivate slowly over time.

When we take the initiative to learn, practice and implement the skills and tools of deep self-care, a kind of self-respect and an enduring self-love is cultivated. This is the epitomy of health. Not your BMI or the number on a scale.

I see it time and again. I teach and coach lifestyle habits. We look at the surface, what we are doing in a 24 hour cycle and refine and iterate and refine. Over and over again what happens when we focus on truly taking care of ourselves, shifting our daily habits 1 degree over time, we begin to dissolve the stories of self-loathing, distorted self-image or deteriorating self-talk into a more positive and expansive relationship with having a body, a mind and a heart in this lifetime.

If we can’t love ourselves, there is no way on earth we can love anyone else. There is just no way possible.

Embody LOVE in 2019.
