I recently had a conversation with one of the annual members of Embody Ease about the meaning of the word “habit”.

James Clear is an author and speaker focused on habits, decision-making and continuous improvement. He defines a habit as “a behavior that has been repeated enough times to become automatic.”

The annual member’s next question was “you seem to do such a good job at practicing these habits, but how do you keep from becoming rigid?” I talk to so many people who think of habits as being mundane, boring, dull and something that limits their freedom, creativity, and curiosity.

Habits don’t restrict freedom. My experience is they actually support us in creating freedom. 

Here’s the thing, without good financial habits you will always be struggling with money. Without good health habits, you will always be struggling with energy. Without good learning habits, you will always feel behind. Without good time management habits, you will always feel like there’s never enough time.

When you have certain body habits dialed it allows for you to access new levels of energy and capacity to serve, reach peak states of performance, patience, and overall connection and joy. There is a link between what we do every day and how we feel, act and live. Your daily habits are the most foundational place to start when seeking greater health and vitality and even referred to as “lifestyle medicine”.

It’s crazy to think that 85% of chronic and autoimmune diseases are linked to daily habits and lifestyle. Make 2019 the year you prioritize your health by evolving your daily lifestyle.
