I did a parenting workshop recently to dive a little deeper into the world of conscious parenting. I found myself wanting to create consequences for Miles behavior and I needed some support. I’ve become more and more comfortable reaching out for help.

This wasn’t how I used to function, but clearly parenting is a priority to me.

You see, we place importance and priority around what we value. If we don’t find value or if we aren’t truly invested, we will tell ourselves we aren’t ready, it’s too expensive, and on and on.

I am inspired to do my own inner work around my role as a parent and see the benefits not only to my relationship with Miles, my husband, but also to myself. It’s so scary and vulnerable to hold up a mirror, but the return on the investment is a true gift and we all continue to reap the rewards.

Do you invest in your own growth? Or do you think of it as an expense

Over the past five years I have shifted my mindset about what I’m willing to invest in and what I’ve learned is that where my time, my attention, my prana, my service and even my money goes is directly correlated to my priorities and what I value.

Everything is an investment to those who are growth-oriented.

Every relationship is an investment.

Every decision is an investment.

Every moment is an investment because all of these things are pulling you forward with compound interest toward the future you’ve already committed to. You cannot be committed without investment. That is a law of human nature. Your degree of commitment is reflected in your depth of personal and financial investment. – Benjamin Hardy
