Let’s be clear, you can be on a path of prioritizing your growth and at the same time not have your foot on the metaphoric gas pedal of life. Slowing down and resting is just as important and as getting things done.

Here’s the thing, growth has multiple cycles and phases and we can see it in nature and in our gardens. In our culture our “busyness” can seem like some kind of badge of honor. According to Ayurveda, this is one of the first stages and phases of disease.

Living in opposition to nature and what we know cultivates dis-ease or a dissonance in our physiology. I’m personally blown away that 85% of chronic illness is rooted in lifestyle and being out of sync with nature’s rhythms. This is why I’ve dedicated my work to teaching, leading and coaching in relationship to daily habits and rhythms.

The seed planting, sprouting, weeding, watering, (waiting in some cases – insert patience here), hours of sunshine, harvest, and then letting the earth lay fallow are all natural cycles to the growth of our food and interestingly enough, to our personal and professional growth and transformation. 

If we keep expecting growth (change, transformation) to happen without rest, or weeding or watering or reflection we burn out, get sick, find ourselves unhappy, with little to give. When this happens there is little to harvest; less fruit or bounty to share.

When we are aware and in alignment with what’s truly needed in our current phase, we can unapologetically take care of ourselves.
